Hazel Marie Morton, 79, passed away at Manor Care in Spokane, Washington November 29, 2006. She was born in Mooreland, Oklahoma on April 17, 1927. Hazel graduated from Kennewick High School in 1946, spent a few years in Oregon, then moved back to in Kennewick in 1952. She worked behind the lunch counter at Vibber?s Rexall Drug from 1962 until it closed as Lyle?s Corner Drug in 1988. Many will remember Hazel wearing the nurse-like white outfit with colorful aprons always working hard but ready to hear the current joke or listen to someone?s family update. She retired and enjoyed taking care of her yard, watching soap operas and spending time with her friends and family. Hazel?s later years were filled with many health problems, but she remained strong and faced each issue with determination. She is survived by her daughter Joyce David Rieckers of Tucson, Arizona; grandsons Eric Amy Rieckers of Reno, Nevada and Paul Katie Rieckers of Spokane, Washington; and great-grandchildren Jay, Charlie, Hannah and Bryce. The family wishes to thank Hazel?s numerous friends and neighbors for the care and support they provided during her last years. Without their help, Hazel would not have been able to remain in the home she loved. Also, thank you to Dr. Kohan for his many years of care. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 4, 2006 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Mueller?s Chapel of the Falls, 314 W. 1st Ave. in Kennewick, Washington. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. also at Mueller?s Chapel of the Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 7325 W Deschutes Ave # A, Kennewick, WA 99336.
