Obituary for Hazel Dean Leavell

Hazel Dean Leavell, 87, passed away on March 10, 2026, in Richland, Washington. She was born on April 8, 1938, in Centralia, Missouri, and in 1944 her family made Richland their home, a place where Hazel would grow up, raise her own family, and spend the rest of her life surrounded by the community she cherished.

Hazel was the daughter of Medford Walter Case and Hazell (Norman) Case, and the beloved sister of Charlette Rose Kallio, who preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Ronald E. Leavell, and together they built a family rooted in warmth, resilience, and deep connection.

Hazel was a devoted mother to Bernice Reynolds and Tammy Stricklin, and the proud grandmother and great‑grandmother to numerous grandchildren and great‑grandchildren who brought her endless joy. Her family was the heart of her world, and she treasured every moment spent travelling and camping with them.

Creative, curious, and always working with her hands, Hazel poured her artistic spirit into everything she did. She owned and operated her own ceramic shop, a place where she not only crafted beautiful pieces but also shared her love of art with others. She found joy in rock hunting, painting, ceramics, jewelry making, cake decorating, sewing, travelling and camping.

Hazel will be remembered for her artistic talent, her adventurous spirit, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, love, and the countless handmade treasures that will continue to tell her story for generations.
