Harold "David" Young, age 74, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 2, 2026. He was born on March 21, 1952, in Lansing, Tennessee, to Albert James Young and Maude Ellen Maden. He was the youngest of six children.

David spent most of his life in Prineville, Oregon, where he graduated from Crook County High School in 1971. In 2001, David and his wife, Sandra, moved to Umatilla, Oregon, where he spent the next 16 years driving truck for Walmart Distribution Center. Seventeen days before his passing, David and Sandra made their final move to Kennewick, Washington.

David married the love of his life, Sandra "Sandy," in August of 1978, and together they shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. They raised their two daughters, Kristi and Julie, in Prineville, Oregon, before later relocating to Umatilla.

David loved hunting with close friends, including Virgil and Jack Hamilton. He often spoke fondly of those hunting trips and always hoped to someday bring home the infamous bull elk — though he jokingly said he got everything else instead. Hunting brought him some of the happiest memories of his life, and he often said life was never quite the same after he could no longer hunt.

David also enjoyed listening to and singing country and gospel music. He especially loved road trips filled with "car karaoke" alongside his daughters. After many years of marriage, he finally admitted that Sandra was a pretty good singer too.

For the last 12 years, David struggled with serious health issues and dependence on oxygen. His family finds comfort in knowing he is finally at peace.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Sandra Young; his daughters, Kristi Young (43) and Julie Young (42); his only living sibling, Brenda (Rick) Bell of Eugene, Oregon; and dear family friends Will and Betty Bartlett of Prineville, Oregon, with whom he shared many cherished memories.
