Obituary

Greg Andrew Hammer passed to heaven on November 21, 2024, in Richland, Washington, after a brief battle with illness. He was born on June 5, 1966, in Spokane, Washington, to Oliver and Maureen (Poorman) Hammer. Greg grew up in Spokane with his parents and three siblings: Gary, John, and Coleen.

A beloved husband, father, and friend, Greg was married to the love of his life, Suzanne "Suzie" Hammer. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Alyssa, who was the light of Greg's life.

Greg was cherished by everyone in the community circles that he and Suzie participated in. He graduated from Kennewick High School in 1985 and in 1988, founded MRP Computer, and later Inline Computer and Communications in Richland. He operated the business alongside Suzie for 35 successful years before selling it in July.

An integral member of the Clover Island Yacht Club, Greg and Suzie enjoyed countless summer days on the water with family and friends, where he also gave back to the community as a Board member and the current Commodore. In the winter, he embraced his passion for snowboarding, often spending time at Schweitzer Ski Area or seeking out new adventures with friends in the snow.

Greg was truly the life of the party, known for welcoming everyone with open arms, making people feel important and valued. His genuine spirit and infectious laughter were unmatched, and his distinctive cackle will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him. Friends remember him for his loyalty, humor, and for being inviting. Greg loved to cook and those who knew him, loved to eat his food. He was always hosting one event or another and was very generous.

Favorite memories include cross-country road trips, early morning boating up the Snake River, hanging out over a beer (or two), late-night trivial arguments, retelling stories of his youth, ski trips and hot tubs.

Memorial services are planned for March 2025, with details to be announced later. Greg Andrew Hammer will be missed dearly, but his spirit will live on in the lives he touched, and the memories created with family and friends.
