Gordon Eugene Gilchrist

July 7, 1950 – December 14, 2025

Gordon Eugene Gilchrist, born July 7, 1950, in St. Ignatius, Montana, to Ella and Robert Gilchrist, passed away on December 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Ella and Bob Gilchrist, and his grandson, Devin Brandon. He is survived by his three children, Polly Bergman (Ron), Patrick Morton, and Keith Morton (Tara); grandchildren, Joel Bergman, Jessica Bergman, Rebeccah Zuhlke (Dillon), and Jennika Morton; and great-grandchildren, Keegan, Talon, Genesis, Galilee, Kolter, Madi, Kenny, Kinzley, Shyla, and Ella. He is also survived by his siblings, Jim Gilchrist (Debbie), Tom Gilchrist, and Eileen Halvorson (Jim), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly. With a special mention to his cousin, Randy, for looking out for our dad.

A decorated Vietnam veteran, Gordon proudly served his country before beginning a lifelong career with the Carpenters Union. Hardworking, loyal, and strong in spirit, he approached every task with dedication and integrity.

Gordon graduated from River View High School in 1969. He was a true mountain man at heart. In 2012, he returned to Montana to fulfill his dream of living in the mountains, where he could always be found with a fishing pole or rifle close at hand, ready for his next adventure. Even in his later years, his love for hunting and fishing never faded.

Gordon will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor, storytelling, and loyal friendship. Among his lifelong friends were Bob Daily and Monty Gilbert, with whom he shared countless adventures and lasting memories.

He had planned to do plenty of fishing after moving back to Washington this past November — plans that, while unfulfilled here, we believe he's joyfully carrying out in heaven, catching his limit among peaceful waters.

Gordon will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his strength, humor, and unwavering love of family, friends, and the great outdoors.
