Gordon Blake Darling, 81 of Kennewick, passed away March 6, 2014 at his home. He was born in San Francisco, California to Gordon M. and Helen Darling. Gordon graduated from Auburn High School in 1951 where he lettered in basketball and met his first wife Dorrine. Gordon married his high school sweetheart, Dorrine Mae Mattson, on November 15, 1952 at his parent's home in Auburn, Washington. Gordon then joined the U.S. Army in July 1952 and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. When discharged from the military he returned to Auburn to begin a new career. Gordon made his lifelong career in the business credit industry. Sixteen years later when working for Reynolds Aluminum he was transferred to San Diego, California for two years. In 1978 he and Dorrine moved to back to Washington, to Kennewick, where Gordon was employed as credit manager for Gourmet Foods. Later he was employed by U I Corp., Lamb Weston and Noel Foods as credit manager, and then promoted to GM before he retired from Noel Foods in 1994. In the 1980's Gordon and Dorrine purchased the Credit Bureau which Dorrine managed until her retirement in 2000. Even after Gordon's retirement he spent time at the Bureau helping where he could. Gordon was active in the Auburn Jaycees and was a member of the Auburn City Council and numerous credit associations in the Tri-Cities area. Gordon was a former member of the Tri-City Country Club. Gordon loved sports and politics; you could even find him out on the golf course hitting a ball around. He was a loyal Huskies fan, and he would never forget the Seahawks or Mariners. He could sit and listen to Fox News for his political fill. Dorrine passed away January 2005 and in November 2007 Gordon married his new sweetheart, Evelyn (Reed) Morgan. Gordon and Evelyn spent many happy times with family and friends in their home on the Sage Hills Golf Course in Warden, and at Evelyn's vacation home near Leavenworth. They also enjoyed their travels to Mexico, Hawaii and Arizona. Gordon is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Warden, his daughter Darcy and her husband Doug McClintock of West Richland; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Evelyn's four children; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends who loved him and will miss him. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, wife Dorrine Mae (Mattson) and daughter Cynthia "Cindi" Nelson. Services will be held March 15, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick with interment to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
