Obituary

Gertrude "Trudy" Grace Vincent, age 95, passed asway December 1, 2021 at Creekstone Assisted Living. Trudy suffered from dementia and was lovingly cared for by her husband, Joe Vincent, for many years until she broke her hip and needed full-time care. Born September 12, 1926, Trudy was the 9th of 10 children born to Robert and Grace Fitzgerald West of Outlook, Montana. Trudy was the last survivor of her family and spoke many times about how joyous it will be to see them all again in her heavenly home. After graduation from Outlook High School, Trudy continued her education, graduating from nursing school in Great Falls, Montana. Trudy's first nursing job was at Kadlec Hospital but because her Canadian nursing friends loved to ski, they soon moved to Portland and then to Leavenworth. Leavenworth is where she met the love of her life….Joe! Joe was exactly what she was looking for, a good looking, world class, ski jumper who would give her free ski lessons. Trudy and Joe were married July 26, 1952 by her brother, Fr. Robert West. Trudy and Joe settled in Pasco, Washington, attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church and raised two sons. In 1972, they moved to Richland and joined the Meadow Springs Country Club and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Kennewick where Trudy and Joe were active in many volunteer groups, altar society, Serra Club, along with over 30 years of teaching adults the faith and bringing communion to those in nursing homes. Trudy was the spiritual center of her family. Her strong Catholic faith and love of God were always topics she wanted to share with her family. Joe and Trudy's many hours of prayer daily were the core of their life together that brought great strength to their family. Trudy and Joe traveled around the world on business/golf trips but the most memorable was the family trip to Ireland. Skiing, golf, reading, cooking, the Mariners and the Zags were passions Trudy and Joe shared. The many family dinners hosted at their home would be Trudy and Joe side by side with a joke and a laugh always in the mix. It's been said that Trudy made the best apple pie known to man! Trudy was also passionate about her family whom she loved so very much as those left behind love her. They include her husband, Joe; sons, Mike (Lori), Mark (Maureen); grandsons, Drew (Nadene), Luke ((Kelly), Doug (Stefanie), Joe (Mariah), Zack (Krystal)Hank (Sara), Nick (Kelsey) and 18 great-grandchildren. A rosary will be said on Thursday, December 9th, 2010 at 12 pm with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:30 pm, Parish of the Holy Spirit, 7409 W. Clearwater, Kennewick, WA. Rather than flowers, donations can be made to Trudy's favorite, Catholic Charities.
