Born on January 30, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, Geraldo was a man whose laughter filled every room he entered and whose presence was as infectious as it was comforting and constant. He was 77 years old.

Geraldo was the cherished son of Enrique and Adelina Mercado, who instilled in him the values of hard work, love, and resilience. These values defined his life and guided him in every endeavor he undertook. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Jeanette Mercado, his late wife Joan Mercado, his grandson Andre, all of his brothers along with his sister Viola and both of his parents, losses that he carried with grace and fortitude.

Geraldo's life was a testament to dedication and passion. Beyond his decades long career as a truck driver for ConAgra, Geraldo was a gifted musician, and never seemed to not be humming or strumming a tune. His heart and soul resembled that of notes and keys that composed the most beautiful life. His talent for fixing instruments was matched only by his joy in playing them.

A true renaissance man, Geraldo's hobbies and interests were as varied as they were fulfilling. If anyone loved sports it was him and his passion shined especially bright on Softball and golf, where he put skills, he honed and perfected to use. Along with playing sports he was a devoted fan to watching his grandchildren in their sports journeys, never missing a game or chance to cheer louder than everyone else. He was an avid fisherman, finding peace and solace by the water's edge. He delighted in the thrill of yard sales, always on the hunt for a hidden treasure or a piece of history. His culinary skills were legendary, and he shared his love through the meals he prepared for family and friends.

Above all, Geraldo was a family man. He is survived by his devoted wife, Yolanda, who stood by his side through every high and every low. His legacy lives on through his children, Jason and Geraldo Jr, who embody his strength and kindness. He was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life and who will carry his spirit forward.

Geraldo loved fiercely and unconditionally, creating a family bond that will endure for generations. His laughter, warmth, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his infectious smile and the light he brought into their lives.
