Geraldine "Gerry" Linton Emery, 93, of Kennewick, Washington, passed away surrounded by family on September 3, 2026. She is survived by Paul, Laura, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. 

Born on January 24, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Frances and Lawrence Peterson, her family left Minnesota after a severe blizzard in 1941. They sold everything that wouldn't fit in their 1933 Chevy and headed west toward Seattle, eventually settling in Wenatchee. 

Gerry attended community college and graduated from WSU. She married Don Linton in 1958, and they moved to Pasco, Washington, where they raised their three children: David, Paul, and Laura. Following Don's death, she married Bill Emery. She loved traveling and camping, taking trips to China, Japan, and Hawaii with her daughter Laura, and attending Sylvester family reunions in Minnesota. She also enjoyed playing cards with various groups and watching Seahawks football. 

Teaching was her lifelong passion. She taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels before teaching at Columbia Basin Community College. Following her retirement in 1992, she continued to volunteer her time educating others at the senior center.
