Obituary

Jeri Clemmons went to her heavenly home on July 5, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeri was born February 11, 1948, in Richland, Washington to Janet and Billy Roberts and sister, Melanie. She graduated from Kennewick High School in 1966 and continued her education at Central Washington University earning a Bachelors Degree in education and a Masters Degree from Heritage College. Jeri married her life long love, Harry Clemmons on August 16, 1969. On February 12, 1974, Jeri and Harry welcomed their son, Cory, into their lives. Jeri loved being Cory's mother; he was the joy of her life. Jeri was a very dedicated Christian. She loved the Lord and was active in Bible Study and teaching Sunday School at South Hills Church in Kennewick. Jeri's passion for Jesus encouraged many people to change their lives. Jeri taught first grade in the Kennewick School District for nineteen years. She will be remembered for bringing her West Highlands Terrier, "Hinges", to school for creative writing lessons. Her beautiful laugh and caring attitude made her one of the favorite teachers for parents and students alike. Jeri continued teaching reading after retirement to nephews and children of friends. Cooking was one of the gifts Jeri shared with family and friends. She was well known for her pies and cakes. Friends would often make special requests when get-togethers were scheduled for baking delicacies. Camping was one of Jeri's joys. She and Harry, along with many good friends, traveled in their motor homes throughout the western United States. Camp fires, fishing and enjoying nature were great pleasures for Jeri. Jeri had a lively, outgoing and welcoming personality. The highlight of Jeri's days was visiting with family and friends. She and her husband, Harry, hosted many dinners and social gatherings on their backyard patio. Jeri is survived by Harry, her loving husband of 41 years. She is survived by her son Cory and daughter-in-law, Jillian, Sister, Melanie and husband Tim Alongi and six nieces Jeanette, Andrea, Grace, Abigail, Susanna, and Rachel. Jeri is survived by her sister-in law and brother-in law, Vicki and Ken Baisch. She was preceded in death by her mother Janet and father Billy Roberts. Donations may be made in Jeri's name to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House 2108 W. Entiat, Kennewick, WA 99336, in lieu of flowers.
