Obituary

Pasco, WA – Gerald James "Jerry" Whitish passed away Monday, April 24 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane surrounded by his children. Jerry was born June 17, 1927 in Bantry, North Dakota to Gladys and James Whitish. He was a devoted, loving family man and a kind friend. A charitable supporter of his community, he generously gave of his time and talents to St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Vincent de Paul. His passion was carpentry and he was self-employed as a building contractor. He was creative and resourceful, a pillar of strength able to build entire homes single-handedly. Jerry drew respect effortlessly with his calm temperament and honorable standards. His sense of duty and dedication to his family never wavered through hard times. He had an infectious smile and good humor that paired so well with his dearly departed wife, Jeanne. Jerry will be remembered as a magnet that held his adult children together along with their families, bonding them with love and laughter, a role model for living life with faith, selfless diligence, and genuine goodness. Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Doloros Jeanne, his son, Joseph Whitish, and his brother, Larry Whitish. He is survived by his five children, Julie Duvall (Larry), Jim Whitish (Jeannie), John Whitish (Pennie), Jody Cornell (Steve) and Jennifer Whitish; his sister, Darlene Wade; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. A rosary will be held May 4 at 6:30pm at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home in Pasco. A funeral Mass will be held May 5, 11:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Pasco, followed by graveside service where Jerry will be laid to rest next to Jeanne and Joe in City View Cemetery, Pasco, WA. A reception will follow at the home of Jody and Steve Cornell.
