Gerald "Jerry" Wilhelm passed away in Benton County, Washington, on April 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 64 years old.

Jerry was married to his caring wife, Renee Wilhelm, with whom he shared many wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to his two children, Brooke Varela (and her husband, Daniel) and Nickolas Wilhelm, and a proud grandfather to his two grandchildren, Ivy and Emilia, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his three brothers, Alan, Larry, David and their families.

For many years, Jerry proudly served his community in various capacities. He was a dedicated Benton County Sheriff's Deputy, committed to protecting and serving with integrity and courage, and volunteered as a firefighter in Finley. Later in his career, he worked as a commercial truck driver for over 30 years and was a dedicated member of the Teamsters Union. He retired from the Teamsters while working for Bechtel in 2015.

Beyond his professional and volunteer service, Jerry was deeply involved in his community. For ten years, he served as a dedicated and inspiring Youth Leader at the Kennewick First United Methodist Church. He made a positive impact on the lives of many young people, offering guidance, support, and a welcoming presence. While being a youth leader he also undertook the task of purchasing and maintaining 3 Church buses. He helped to train additional youth leaders to drive the buses and earn their own Commercial Driver's Licenses. His commitment to the church and its youth was a testament to his caring and generous spirit.

Jerry liked to be on the road with his family as well, especially to go camping. He loved adventure and found great joy in cooking camp meals around a crackling campfire – and the bigger the fire, the better! He often shared these moments with family and friends, sharing ghost stories and tales from his youth and days being an officer.

Those who knew Jerry will remember him for his passion and love for his family, his storytelling, and his knack for fixing anything. His faith in Jesus comforts his remaining family and friends. He will be missed and forever remembered.

A memorial service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held at the Kennewick First United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jerry's name to the Kennewick First United Methodist Church Youth Group or the Building Restoration Fund, in honor of his dedicated service to the church.
