Gerald Frank Wagemann was born on 28 June 1936, in Lucas, Ohio. His Father, Frank Edward Wagemann was 32 and his mother, Myrtle May Cramer, was 29.
He joined the Navy in 1954 and served in the Seabees until his retirement in 1974 having completed 3 tours of Vietnam and 1 tour of Cambodia. He attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Following his Navy retirement, he went to work for the Ventura County Fire Department as a chief mechanic for 14 years and then retired a second time.
Gerald met and married Mary Rebecca Sheppard on 28 August 1962 in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. They were the parents of 6 sons and 2 daughters. The family resided in Lemoore and then Oxnard, California for much of Gerald's time in the Seabees until his retirement from the Navy. He was a loving father to his children, all of whom loved and respected him deeply and a faithful and devoted husband to Mary during their 64-year marriage. When their children were all grown up and married, Gerald and Mary moved to Kennewick, Washington, which was their last residence.
Gerald died on 25 April 2026, in Kennewick, Washington at the age of 89. He was buried with full military honors at the Mueller's Desert Lawn Memorial Park on May 2, 2026.
Gerald is predeceased by his parents Frank and Myrtle, his sister Neva, and his son Thomas. He is survived by his wife Mary, children Michael (Terry), Belinda Marie (Jesus), Ebenezer (Suzzanne), Patrick, Paul (Annie), Gerald Jr. (Tanya) and Mary Sharon (Kevin) and numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
