George Robert Board, born October 25th, 1938 in New London, Connecticut to Henry George Robert Board and Marian Margarita (Hull) Board passed away on March 2nd, 2026.
He attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida and enlisted in the Navy on February 5th, 1958. He married Suzanna Mary Ward on December 30th, 1960. Serving for 20 years in the Navy, he rose through the ranks from Seaman Recruit to Lieutenant Commander, served in various positions associated with the design, construction, testing, operation, maintenance, refueling and overhaul of naval nuclear propulsion plants. Subsequently, was employed at Hanford Site, Richland, WA and worked for Rockwell Hanford Operations and later for Westinghouse Hanford Company. Managed various organizations associated with operation and maintenance of site infrastructure including; maintenance engineering, field services, roads and grounds maintenance, crane and rigging services, steam and water utilities, janitorial services and laundry services. George retired in 1994 and moved to Orcas Island where he pursued a lifelong desire to design and build custom furniture and casework.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on March 10, 2026 at 1PM at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick, WA.
