Obituary

Genevieve Lena Mahaffey was born on May 30, 1923 in Provo, Utah to Ernest Gregory Johnson and Evelyn Ruth (Rasmussen) and returned to our Heavenly Father June 29, 2013. Gen grew up in Rexburg, Idaho in a family of all girls. She had 5 sisters with 2 that died in early infancy. Her older sister Ruth Brown and younger sisters Gwen Faragher and Gail Mains were always close and protective of each other and were taught to be nurturing, kind, and gentle women by their loving mother. After moving to Kennewick, Gen met and married Lincoln Clayborne Mahaffey Jr. on February 17, 1948, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gen's life was truly enriched by many faithful and caring visiting teachers, home teachers, and missionaries that she welcomed into their home. Gen was a neat homemaker always providing a clean, neat home and preparing many wonderful meals. She loved to celebrate the arrival of each new grandchild and great grandchild by lovingly quilting and crocheting handmade blankets that are treasured keepsakes from their Grandma Gen. Gen loved and cherished her family and friends and will be missed and remembered by all. Genevieve is survived by her husband Lincoln of 65 years, son Glen (Paula) of Richland, daughter-in-law Kristy of Kennewick, son Floyd (Lanai) of Pasco, daughter Kathy Hansen (Steve) of Twin Falls, Idaho, son Sid of Kennewick, 21 grandchildren, and 43 great grandchildren.
