Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2016, 1pm, at PASCO RED LION, 2525 N 20th Ave., Pasco. Gavin Rashawn Slack July 2, 1999 –January 5, 2016 On January 5th the Slack family lost their beloved son, brother, and uncle, Gavin Slack. Gavin was an exemplary human being, who actively loved the world around him and the people in it. He was a shining beacon of light in the lives of the people who knew him. He possessed a servant's heart, always considering the needs and happiness of others, always willing to help out wherever he was needed. As a child, Gavin was an active, bouncy boy; continuously jumping and zooming around. He was playful, inquisitive, observant and especially tender hearted. Gavin let people in need know he cared in small, but significant, ways. He helped out his Ma-Maw at Mark's farm each summer and enjoyed annual trips to the beach with his family. Gavin's family meant the world to him. Whenever he gathered with his family, the joy they brought him was reflected in his smiling eyes. Gavin found a love for music and athletics at a young age. He lived with a running soundtrack that included a diverse body of music to score his life. Gavin was a talented athlete and a valued team member on the football and track teams. He embodied the essence of a good child, as a caring older brother and a loving, respectful son and role model. Gavin was great with babies and animals, who felt instantly at ease in his presence. He greatly enjoyed holding a baby and his work with the Buddy Club. Gavin entertained his friends and family with movie quotes, songs and imitations, wearing an infectious smile that made people love him instantly. He was a positive influence to his friends, who admired him for his happy demeanor and fearless attitude. He leaves behind his parents, Leonard and Tiffany, his brothers, Malik, Darian and Anderson. His sister-in-law Sydney and nephew Dawsyn. His especially close cousin Johnnathan and scores of aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and friends. A viewing will be held from 5-8pm on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick, WA 99338. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2016, 1pm, at Pasco Red Lion, 2525 N 20th Ave., Pasco. A small memorial will also be set up at his favorite place "at the top of the world" above Keene Park, to be determined at a later date.
