The Gradin Family lost a great patriarch on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Gary Allen Gradin, 78, of Burbank, Washington died of a heart attack while riding his bicycle around the community he lived in for the past thirty years. Gary was born in Webster, South Dakota, on June 25, 1936. He was born to Carl and Velma Gradin, both of whom predeceased him. He was one of four children, being survived by his sister, Shirley, and brothers Dennis and Ray. He married Dorothy F. Schaeffer in 1956, and she survives him after 58 years of marriage. Gary was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army and attaining the rank of Corporal. He spent his life working in construction and dedicated many hours cheering on his children and grandchildren at sporting events, concerts and graduations. Gary also had a passion for fishing and spent a lot of quality time with his family fishing throughout Eastern Washington for walleye. Gary and Dorothy raised six boys: Gary, Jr. who predeceased him; Keith Gradin (and wife, Shelly) of Spokane; Curt Gradin (and wife, Tracy) of Spokane; Daniel Gradin of Burbank; Kenneth Gradin (and wife, Alicia) of Burbank and Doug Gradin (and wife, Michelle) of Burbank. Gary was the proud grandfather of 21 grandchildren; Heather, Garret, Jeremy, Jakson, Alexa, Katie, Emily, Daniel, Jr., Jamie, Corrine, Colin, Desiree, Corina, Branden, Joshua, Kendra, Nicole, Craig, Sean, Tyler and Nathan. He is survived by 5 great grandchildren: Kolton, Jadyn, Gwen, Brady and Ava. A service to celebrate Gary's life will be held on September 20, 2014 at 11:00am at Riverview Baptist Church, 4921 W. Wernett, Pasco, WA 99301. All those who knew Gary or the family are encouraged to attend.
