Frances Elaine Sanders-Cox, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend left this world on October 1, 2008 at the age of 81. Frances was born in Burns, Kansas, on December 29, 1926, to Fred an Katherine Sanders. She was the fourth of nine children. In the spring of 1945, at age 19, she married Robert Daniel Cox in Wichita, Kansas. With their first child in tow, the couple relocated to Portland in 1946. Over the next eleven years, the couple added three additional children. In 1957, the family of six made their final move to Kennewick where Robert sought gainful employment with the Hydroelectric Power Plants on the Columbia River. Frances led a full and varied life. Due to her love of flowers and gardening, she spent many of her early years in the floral industry. From there she went into shipping and receiving, working for a variety of employers throughout the Tri-City area. Frances ended her career-life working at the Benton County PUD, where she retired from in 1992. In her free time, Frances enjoyed her bowling league where she brought home various awards and trophies throughout the years. In 2002 she was a founding member of Chapeau Rouge, Red Hat Society of Kennewick. She was also an accomplished seamstress, making many garments for her daughters and granddaughters. Loving the outdoors, fishing and camping became a family tradition. Throughout the 63 years of marriage, Frances' love for her family came above all else. Being the nucleus of the family, she modeled a strong will and inspiration for life that will be carried on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Frances is survived by her husband Robert; children Karon Eggers and husband Dale, Katherine McLaughlin and husband Dennis, Roberta Walters, Kenton Cox and wife Kelly; brother Lester Sanders; sister Erma Sanders-Sperry; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Katherine; brothers Archie, Richard, Wesley, Irvin, Kermit and sister Thelma. A special thanks goes to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, Dr. Rubin Sierra and his nurse Cynthia and Dr. Kevin Weeks. A heartfelt thank-you to Susie, her chemo nurse for her guidance over the last 15 years. We also want to thank Dr. Ling for his continued care and support. Lastly, thank you to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House, especially nurses Linda & Lynn and her social worker Julie. Your visits in Frances' final days brought much appreciated comfort and support. A service of remembrance will be held Monday, October 6, 2008, 1:00pm, at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home located at 1401 S. Union Street in Kennewick.
