Floyd H. Baker passed away on March 16, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Our dad, husband, and "Poppie" will be greatly missed by all of us. We are comforted in knowing he is now with his Heavenly Father and finally free from his pain. Dad was a wonderful family man and was surrounded by his family until the end. Dad and Mom taught us, by example, how important family is. They were happily married for 56 years. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved his Mariners and Seahawks. Reunions at Twin Lakes and other vacations with his family were some of the highlights of his life. Dad was known as a dedicated and proud member of his trade as a Union Electrician, through Local 112, and previous to that, Local 86 in Rochester, New York. He retired in 1986. He was born in Brockville, Ontario, Canada on July 27, 1933 and married the love of his life, Elizabeth, in July of 1954. They began their lives together in Ogdensburg, New York, then later moved to Rochester, New York, and finally settled in Kennewick where they have lived since 1976. Dad was preceded in death by his father Albert, mother Violet, brothers Bert and Don, sister Eleanor, and grandson John. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, son Steven Vicki Baker, daughter Kathy David Van Dyke, grandchildren Jenelle, Danielle, Brandon, Charlain, Jackie, David, and seven great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother Jack Shirley Baker, and numerous nieces and nephews. Our family wishes to thank the staff at Kennewick General Hospital and Hospice at The Chaplaincy for their care and compassion. At Dad's request, a memorial will be held at a future date.
