Fern Adene (Wallace) Jones, 90, of Burbank, Wash., passed away in her sleep on June 15, 2023 at Richland Rehabilitation Center. Fern was born June 23, 1932, at Horse Heaven (near Madras in central Oregon) to George and Fern Wallace. Fern grew up in the Willamette Valley, and graduated as salutatorian from Albany High School. Fern attended Oregon College of Education in Monmouth and graduated in 1954. Fern taught elementary school for two years in Eugene then became a bank teller.

Alvin Jones proposed to Fern on Valentine's Day of 1957 and Fern said yes. The couple were married June 8, 1957 in Eugene and began their life together in Corvallis. It wasn't long before they began their family with Wendy in 1958, Kerri in 1959, Diane in 1961, Sally in 1962, Brian in 1963, Clark in 1964, and Nancy in 1968. The family lived for a while in Bend, OR; Logsdon, OR; Vancouver, WA; and West Virginia but always owned property and came back to Corvallis during breaks. In 2008 Fern and Alvin moved to Burbank, Washington to be near family. Alvin passed away in 2009.

Fern trusted in Jesus as her savior as a girl and was on a lifelong journey to know Him and serve Him. She was very active in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship during her college years. It was through InterVarsity that she and Alvin met. She was involved in a variety of ministries her entire life including serving as a deacon at Knollbrook Christian Reformed Church, volunteering at Love in the name of Christ (Love INC), leading many women's Bible Studies, and supporting many who were taking the good news of Jesus to people who have never heard.

She attended Columbia Bible Church in Kennewick, Washington since moving to Tri-Cities. In her younger years Fern enjoyed sewing and counted cross stitch. Even until her last month, she continued to enjoy reading, traveling, keeping up with her family, corresponding with family and missionaries, and praying for friends, family, and missionaries.

Survivors include sons Brian Jones of Pahrump, NV, and Clark Jones and wife, Kris, of Prineville, OR; daughters Wendy Colvin and husband, John, of Canby, OR, Kerri Nielsen and husband, Randy, of Pasco, WA, Diane Wells and husband, Norman, of Burbank, WA, Sally Badenoch and husband, Lester, of St. Louis, Mo., and Nancy Noyes and husband, Delmar, also of Burbank, WA; brothers Gary Wallace of Albany, Oregon, Wayne Wallace of Camden, Maine.; 23 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin Jones; a sister, Carol Olson; brothers Don, Ron, and Ray Wallace; daughter-in-law Kaurie Jones; and grandson Kendall Jones.
