Eva L. Pugh, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away quietly in her sleep on May 11, 2009. She was born on January 9, 1920 in Meadow Grove, Nebraska, to Edward and Lula Hansen. She had two sisters, Opal and Barbara, and together they lived and worked with their parents on a farm between Newman Grove and Meadow Grove, Nebraska. On April 23, 1940, Eva married her high school sweetheart, Forrest S. Pugh, and together they traveled to Twin Falls, Idaho, where they farmed. After Forrest was drafted to serve in the army during World War II, she traveled across the United States to be close to her husband during his service. After the war, they returned to Twin Falls, Idaho and remained there until the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project was opened. They moved to their farm in Eltopia, Washington in 1955 where they developed raw land into a producing and successful irrigated farm. Mom had two sons, Bruce and Byron, to which she devoted the majority of her life. Mom loved her family and friends and was happiest when serving them in whatever capacity she was able. She resided at Desert Villa Apartments for the last 15 ½ years of her life and served many of the residents there as best she could and considered everyone who resided there her friend. Her two favorite things in life, other than her service to others, were music and her deep abiding belief in her Heavenly Father. Mom has finally gotten her greatest wish and that is to walk in His presence again. Eva L. Pugh is survived by her two sons, Bruce and his wife Ruth, Byron and his wife Sally; 5 grandchildren, Amy, Dwayne, Michael, Gregory and Lisa; 4 grandchildren, Kayla, Zachary, Tyler and Jasmine; and one sister, Barbara. Eva was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Forrest, her mother, father, sister Opal and one grandson, Brad J. Pugh. Mom will be remembered with tender love and missed by many. Funeral services will be Monday, May 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick, with Pastor Orville Swanson officiating. Burial will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Kennewick First Church of the Nazarene or the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospices.
