Elwyn Delaney Lyle, 82, passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday, June 29, 2007 in Kennewick. Elwyn was born January 21, 1925 in Ritzville to Sam and Estelle Turner Lyle. He was raised on a wheat farm near Cunningham, WA and attended school in Lind, WA. In 1945, he enlisted in the Army and served in Korea with the 1778th Engineers Construction Battalion. Upon his return, he resumed wheat farming until the age of 69. Elwyn married Dorothy Brill of Deer Park on November 23, 1947 in Hatton, WA. Together, they raised four children on the farm before retiring to Kennewick in 1994. He is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Dorothy of Kennewick; sons Craig Karen Lyle of Walla Walla, Ed Lyle of Lind, Ross Tonia Lyle of Richardson, TX; daughter Sharon Mike Damon of Clarkston; grandchildren Andy & Brandon Lyle, both of Seattle, Greg & Bradley Lyle of Richardson, TX, Kelsey & Darren Damon of Clarkston; sister Phyllis Dick Mason of Spokane; brother Rex Juanita Lyle of Ritzville; cousins Lester Lyle of Pomeroy, Elaine McDaniel of Spokane; sister-in-law Anna Lee Suiter of Yakima; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Estelle, cousin Marion Fitzsimmons, Aunt Rose and Uncle Dan Lyle. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 5, 2007. 12-8pm, at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2007, 11:00am, at First United Methodist Church, 2 S. Dayton, Kennewick. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Cole and the staff at Canyon Lakes Restorative and Rehabilitation Center for the care that was given to Elwyn.
