Elsa Louise Pahl, 97, passed on at Hospice House on March 18, 2006. She was born to Charles and Alpharelda Walker on Feb. 9, 1909 in Elliott, IA. She married Ezra John Pahl on May 26, 1926 in Omaha, NE. After living in several states they settled in West Richland, WA. in October 1947. Elsa was a homemaker who was an excellent cook and baker and loved the family gatherings. In her earlier years, she enjoyed being outdoors working with her flowers, fruits and vegatables. She also was very accomplished at sewing, knitting and crocheting, and shared the results with delighted family members. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Richland. Elsa was preceded in death by her husband Ezra, and granddaughter Shannon Varley. Elsa is survived by her son Jack and wife Ruth Pahl, and her daughter Jean Varley. Also survived by grandsons Jim and Sharon Pahl, and Mike Varley; granddaughters and husbands Kathleen and Dan Moyer, Janet and Bill Dickinson, Patti and David Milton, and Sandi and Grant Linnen. She leaves behind great granddaughters and husbands Christina and Frank Moreno, Tami and Steve Grammer, Sandi and Montee Shipman and Erin and Bill Lantz; great grandsons, William Dickinson, Cameron Milton, Clinton Milton and Alex Linnen; Great great grandchildren are Matthew, Andrew, Nick and Spencer Moreno, Christopher and Katie Lantz and Andrea Shipman. Also nimerous nieces and nephews. Elsa lived contentedly at Guardina Angels Assisted Living Homes for the past four plus years and the family sincerely thanks the staff for their kindness and care of her. We also wish to acknowledge the long and dedicated service of retired Pastor Milvin Veland of the Richland Assembly of God Church. Pastor Mel was faithful in his regular visits to Mother to chat a while and pray with and for her. It always brightened her spirits. We deeply appreciate Dr. Stanley Hales and his concerned commitment to Elsa's care over the years. He is always responsive to our needs. At the end, Hospice personnel lovingly kept Mom comfortable and were very helpful to us and we are grateful. Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. At Elsa's request there will be no formal services. Pastor Veland will offer prayers at a private gathering for the immediate family. If desired, memorials my be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
