Obituary

Ellen Mae (McCellan) Allen passed away in Kennewick, Washington, on February 14th, 2025, at the age of 96. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother, she will be deeply missed by all.

Ellen was born on April 1st, 1928 in Riverside, Idaho to Maurice and Ellen Adams. She was one of 10 children raised on her family's farm. She graduated from Riverside High School. Ellen married Loel W. McClellan in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints Idaho Falls Temple on November 27th, 1946. They were the parents of eight children. They lived in various places throughout their married life, including Blackfoot, Idaho, Van Nuys, California, Brigham City, Utah, Las Vegas, Nevada, Kennewick, Washington, and Fair Oaks, California. They made their final move back to Kennewick in 1971.

Ellen was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many positions in the Church as well as serving three full time Missions for the Church after Loel passed away in 1985. She also loved the Temple and enjoyed serving there.

On April 17th, 2008, Ellen married Paul Allen. They lived in Kennewick until his death in 2020. Ellen enjoyed music, she had a beautiful voice and preformed solos and in ensemble groups, she also played the piano and organ. Reading was one of her favorite pass times, she also enjoyed sewing and decorating her home and garden.

Ellen is survived by her brother Bob Adams and her sister De Ann Hammond and by her children Sandra Abbott (Bruce) Parowan, Utah, Richard McClellan (Cheryl) Chesterland, Ohio, Shirley Ransom (George) Pasco, Washington, Susan Ferguson, Puyallup, Washington, Carol Carpenter (Roger) Kennewick, Washington, Nancy Moore (Jeff) Draper, Utah, and David McClellan (Lynda) Fort Smith, Arkansas. 28 Grandchildren, 66 Great Grandchildren, and 14 Great-Great Grandchildren. Ellen id preceded in death by husbands Loel McClellan, and Paul Allen, Daughter Diana McClellan and Ashley McLellan and Sam McClellan.
