Ellen Elizabeth Bette Mathews, 84, passed away at home on April 7, 2007. She was born on September 22, 1922 in Gisborne, New Zealand to Alfred and Ellen Plummer. Bette married Charles Mathews in 1943 while he was stationed in New Zealand. Bette came to the U.S. in 1947 and resided in Idaho before moving to Pasco in 1948. Bette was active in St. Patrick?s Catholic School. She was employed at various nursing homes in the Tri-Cities before retiring to the Nile Valley. In 1992, Bette and Chet returned to Pasco. Bette has touched the lives of so many people. She was loved and honored by all who knew her. Bette is survived by sons; Anthony Tony Mathews of Kennewick, WA., Warrick Mathews of Kent, WA., Royce Mathews of Kennewick, WA., daughters Sheila Cramer of Blountville, TN., and Colleen Sierra of Yakima, WA., 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister, all of New Zealand. Bette is preceded in death by her husband Charles. A Service of Remembrance is scheduled for Wednesday, April 11, 2007, 1pm, at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick, Washington.
