Elizabeth ?Jane? Shannon, age 93, passed away December 3rd at the home of her son in Richland, WA. She was a lifelong resident of Aurora, OR. Jane was born 1/24/1913 to Leonard Glen and Elizabeth Lewis Yergen of Aurora, OR, and was a descendant of Oregon Trail pioneer families and homesteaders in the Aurora Area, dating back to 1853. Jane is survived by her son, Michael E. Shannon DMD Joanie of Richland, WA, and grandson Patrick R. Shannon of Pullman, WA. Jane is also survived by step-grandchildren Sarah Boyd Casey of Manson, WA, Alison Hart of Pullman, WA and Alex Hart of Spokane, WA; her sister Mary Lockwood of Aurora, OR, stepdaughters Dee Neitzke, Alan of New Hampton, Iowa and Donna Drees Joe of Warrensburg, MO, and one great grandson, Caber Boyd. On 1/27/1944, she married Edward M. Shannon, of Auburn, Iowa and they purchased a farm near Aurora, Oregon. They later were able to establish a larger farm closer to her original family home. After the death of her husband in 1981, Jane continued to be an able and independent farm manager. Jane was a school teacher in the school districts of Tillamook, Bend, Canby and Woodburn spanning more than 30 years before retiring in 1978. She shared her love as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, teacher and friend. Throughout her life she shared her special gifts of being a homemaker and seamstress and with all her family and friends. Jane was one of the founding members of the St. Frances of Assisi Episcopal Church in Wilsonville, OR and for years an active member of many committees. She was preceded in death by her husband and her brothers, Phillip and Glen ?Bud? Yergen of Aurora, OR. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9th at 1:30 pm at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Wilsonville, OR.
