Edward "Elwyn" Phillips went home to the Lord unexpectedly on December 18, 2014. He was a life-long resident of Pasco, where he was born June 1, 1938. He graduated from Pasco Senior High in 1957. Growing up, Elwyn enjoyed hunting, fishing, building and flying model airplanes, and working on cars. He won several trophies for flying model airplanes. In high school, he built a wooden boat in shop class and used it nearly 15 years for fishing and water skiing. He also built his first pair of water skis to use behind the boat. He loved hunting most of all, enjoying goose, duck, pheasant, deer and elk hunting his whole life. He was blessed to have gone elk hunting just 6 weeks before he passed away. Elwyn wasn't a big talker, but when he spoke, his words were meaningful. He enjoyed telling stories about memorable times hunting or fishing. He was also well known for the advice he gave to people in any circumstances, "Just give it time". He would help anyone at any time for any reason. Elwyn had a quiet, yet unshakeable faith in God. He was a believer his entire life. Elwyn worked at Boise Cascade from 1961 until his retirement in 2003 as a MOST Control Room Operator. After his retirement, he continued hunting, fishing and working on projects around the house. His strength, patience, and steadfast love will be missed deeply by his family. He was preceded in death by his baby brother, Rex Earl Jr., brother Neal, father Rex, Sr., mother Edna, and grandson Jovan Conn. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie Phillips nee Van Enkevort of Pasco, son and granddaughter Heath and Cheyenne Phillips of Spokane, WA, Mima Phillips of Kennewick, WA, daughter and granddaughter Holly and Harper Van Eis of Austin, TX, granddaughter Monique Pineda of Pasco and daughter-in-law and grandson SaLee Phillips and MJ Mills of Richland. The memorial service will be Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Community Bible Church, 5807 W. Umatilla Ave in Kennewick.
