Duane Moe, age 89, passed away on June 29, 2025. He was born March 26, 1936, in Mt Horeb, Wisconsin to his loving parents Bud and Eleanor Moe. When he was 11 his family moved to Kennewick WA. Duane attended Kennewick High School and Pacific Lutheran College before becoming the administrator at Twin Rivers Group Home.

His family and friends will remember him as funny, friendly and loved by everyone. He enjoyed being with friends and family, talking for hours. Duane loved watching sports, football, basketball and baseball. At the college level, he particularly liked the Wisconsin Badgers, and on the professional side, the Seattle Mariners who need to go to the World Series this season in his honor. For 50 years he never missed the boat races. Duane also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, working in his yard and supporting his family in building their memorabilia collections such as Mariners, M&Ms, Shih tzus, Harry Potter and the Pasco Bulldogs just to mention a few. He enjoyed shopping at Fred Meyer and having lunch with his classmates at Liar's Club. Duane was also one of the most organized people, down to labeling the containers for his paper towels and toilet paper. Duane's favorite event of the year was hosting Christmas Eve. His favorite things to eat were Double Cheeseburger Macaroni Hamburger Helper with black pepper, macaroni and cheese, ice cream/milk shakes (pralines and cream, vanilla and caramel), coconut cream pie and his sister Donna's hamburger soup.

When Duane moved to Kennewick in 1947, it was quite the car full. Duane, Donna, Dennis, Dale piled into a 1931 Chevrolet with their parents. Their dog Snookie was determined not to be left behind and jumped in too. After graduating from Kennewick high school in 1954, and then Pacific Lutheran College, Duane became an insurance adjuster for Safeco Insurance. For 2 years he was in the Army Reserve, being discharged in 1967. He completed a 30-year career working for the State of Washington, Department of Juvenile Rehabilitation. He finished his career as the Administrator of Twin Rivers Group Home. He was recognized by the state for his years for service. In his spare time, Duane devoted 20 years to his passion for refereeing grid kids and high school football and umpiring softball. He recently said he wished he had pursued that longer, but he continued to call plays to the end.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Eleanor Moe, his first wife Vonis Moe, brother Dennis Moe, Daughter Marli (Moe Walker) Sarchet, son-in-law Mike Sullivan and brother-in-law Jim Rasmussen.

Duane is survived by his children Melinda Moe Bos, Mitzi (Moe) Veng, Mark (Rayna) Moe and Teresa (Noah) Moe, his siblings Donna Rasmussen and Dale (Sue) Moe, his grandchildren Jennifer (Josey) Conner, Jeremiah Walker, Mason (Yvonne) Veng, Mathew Veng, Tylar Sullivan, great grandchildren Kori, Jazmine, Vivian and Violet, many nieces, wonderful neighbors and half of the Tri Cities in great friends.
