Obituary

Dorothy Louise Paisley, ?39? of Pasco, Washington, was healed of cancer forever on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 as she took her last breath on this earth and the next breath in the presence of her Saviour, whom she loved with all of her heart. She was surrounded by her loving family as she made this ?journey of a lifetime.? Dorothy was born December 24, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri where she was adopted by Bertan and Jane Phelps. She was well-known by her childhood friends as a compassionate soul who lived to help others; she continued the legacy of compassion and self-sacrifice to the last moments of her life. Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour in her teens after hearing a clear gospel message for the first time. She married her love, John Paisley on July 30, 1965, and they shared nearly 43 years of marital blessing. Her husband was her best friend and they served the Lord together for their entire married life. She has been extremely involved in the ministries of Riverview Baptist Church for the past 33 ½ years. For over 15 years she taught the weekly Ladies Bible Study where many women learned by her example as well as her teaching from the Word of God how to be a godly wife and servant of the Lord. For over 30 years she was the ?five-year-old class? Sunday School teacher and a faithful bus captain in the church?s bus ministry, bringing thousands of children to hear of the love of Christ. Dorothy loved good Christian music and was the church pianist for nearly 30 years. She was a wonderful pastor?s wife and served beside her husband in that capacity for 41 years. She worked as a realtor for Metro Realty and Coldwell Banker Realtors for 19 years and made some loyal friends during her real estate career. Dorothy was diagnosed with cancer in 2004 just before the birth of her first grandchild, and the Lord was gracious in allowing her to live to see all three of her grandchildren born; they have been the light of her life and her inspiration in her battle with cancer. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Bertan and Jane Phelps and is survived by her husband, Dr. John Paisley of Pasco, Washington, two daughters, Elizabeth Rogers and her husband Mark of Fairbanks, Alaska, Deborah Wilson and her husband Wesley of Crown Point, Indiana, three grandchildren who adored her, Hope Victoria and David Benjamin Rogers and Travis Paisley Wilson. She is also survived by two half-sisters, two half-brothers and a step-sister in Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missions Outreach Program at Riverview Baptist Church to honor Dorothy?s love for missions.
