Dorene Marie Williams Borgen passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on December 22, 2008, at Kennewick General Hospital from complications related to COPD. She was born on April 28, 1932 in Spokane, Washington to Leonard and Alice Burdett Williams. She spent her early grade school years in Wallula, Washington. Her family moved to Kennewick when she was in the 7th grade. She graduated from Kennewick High School in 1950. It was at KeHS that she met the love of her life, Bernard "Ben" Borgen. They married on March 16, 1952 in Topeka, Kansas, where Bernie was stationed with the Air Force. They returned to Kennewick in 1954, where together, they raised three daughters. Dorene was a member of Kennewick 1st Lutheran Church. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin to her many relatives. She loved her family most of all and was known especially for her quick wit, her ability to listen without judging, an amazing memory for details, and her fondness for word games. She was an avid Seahawk, U of W Huskies, and Mariner fan, and could rattle off stats with the best of them. She also loved camping trips with family and special friends, Ione and the late Lee Bisping. Dorene was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather John Sellers and her nephew Mike Williams. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, her daughters and their spouses Lynn Greg Rose, Kathleen Ted Homme, both of Kennewick and Debra Joe Kramer of East Wenatchee, and her only brother, Charles Williams of Olathe, Colorado. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, and numerous cousins. We will all miss her kind spirit and gentle ways. We would like to thank the KGH ICU nurses Michelle, Sheri, Albina & Arlene and Drs. Khieran & Niendorff for the supportive care that they provided Dorene and our family. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 26th, 2008, 11:00am, at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home located at 1401 S. Union Street in Kennewick. Interment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. A lunch reception will be held at Kennewick 1st Lutheran Church in the fellowship hall following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in her honor to either Kennewick 1st Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
