Obituary

Donna Jean (Bergsing) Bartlett, 93, of Kennewick was the third child born to Clarence and Josephine (Morvel) Bergsing on August 5, 1932, in International Falls, Minnesota (a clerical error had her legal birthday as August 6). The family moved around the country before coming to Kennewick in 1946. A few years later, Donna's older sister Marjorie met her future husband, Ralph Bartlett, and it was through them that Donna met Ralph's brother Jack Bartlett. Donna and Jack were married on December 21, 1951. Jack picked the date as it was the day before his birthday, so he figured he would never forget their anniversary (and he didn't).

Jack worked at Hanford and Donna worked as a telephone operator until oldest son Jack Jr was born in 1954. Son Richard followed in 1958, and unexpected surprise daughter Rosemarie arrived in late 1967 (a tax bonus as her dad put it). Donna was a devoted mother to her 3 kids and a mother figure to many more throughout the years. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Christ the King since 1954 when the family moved to Richland. She was very crafty and could create just about anything; her skills included crocheting, knitting, making rosaries, and ceramics to name a few. She had a kind and loving heart, but if you asked for her opinion, you were going to get it, no holds barred. She was sarcastic and sassy up until her last couple of days. She died on Christmas day which seemed appropriate given she LOVED Christmas.

She cared for Jack for 15 years following his massive heart attack until his death in 2005. After Jack's death, she got the puppy she always threatened him with and then moved in with daughter Rosemarie. "Mr. Pooh" (the dog, a bichon) brought Donna and Rose a lot of love and laughs before he crossed the rainbow bridge in 2020.

Donna was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Rosemary Bergsing, Marjorie Bartlett, Clancy Bergsing, and Jim Bergsing; her husband Jack of nearly 54 years; daughter-in-law Diane Bartlett; many dear loved ones; and her closest friends, Phyllis Carney Crawford and Irene Buchanan.

She is survived by her children, Jack (Kathy Infante), Richard (Gina), and Rosemarie; grandchildren, Jay (Christy), Richard (Auburn), Matthew (Kaylee), and Jason; and great-grandchildren, Michelle, Whitley, Tyler, Lillie, Jackson, Emilia, Xavier, Harper, and Emersyn; her husband's remaining beloved family including Jim (Margaret) Bartlett, Marie Lott, Ken (Laura) Bartlett, and Mike Bartlett; and many nieces and nephews.

The family thanks Visiting Angels, especially Jessica who helped care for Donna for over a year and a half following her stroke and Kimberly her case manager (double thumbs up to you both) and Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, especially Cassi and Elizabeth. In lieu of flowers (many family members are allergic), the family suggests you consider gifts to Christ the King school, Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, or a charity of your choice.
