DONALD DUANE KIRK April 14, 1914 to May 27, 2009 Age 95 Don Kirk, born in Logan, Iowa, left us on May 27, 2009. He is survived by his daughter, Helen NJ, and sons Duncan, Nathan, and Jeffrey all WA; grandchildren: Paul Dieterly IL, Anna Dieterly NJ, Duncan Pryce Kirk Richland, Damon Kirk CA, Amanda Kirk, Andrew Kirk, Adam Kirk, Natalie Kirk all UT, Matthew Kirk, and Emily Kirk WA; and 10 great-grandchildren. Don loved airplanes as a child, sang opera as a teenager, served in the Civilian Conservation Corps as a young man and served the country during World War II by working as an electrician on several domestic war projects including Hanford. His hobbies included tennis several times a week into his 70s, writing a book about his experiences as an electrician and working in his yard and garden. He built his house on Perry Loop, was a good neighbor and attended United Methodist Church often. He was proud of his long career as a Journeyman Electrician, but the greatest achievement of his life was a seventy-year marriage to Lois Bray Kirk 2006. He will be remembered as a difficult father, an outdoors-loving, tree-house building grandfather and a loyal Republican-with a stunning resemblance to Ronald Reagan. A memorial service is planned for June 13, 6 p.m.
