Donald (Gene) Graves went on to be with the Lord on April 10, 2017. Gene was born in Kennewick, WA on August 22, 1927 to John and Sarah Graves. He was the seventh of nine children. Gene graduated from Kennewick High School in 1946. He worked for his father at Graves Dodge as a mechanic. He enlisted in the Navy in 1946 and served two years in Guam. When he returned, he married the love of his life Marjorie Mowery in 1951. He continued to work at Graves Dodge and became a volunteer fireman. He had two children, Teresa and Douglas. Gene soon became a firefighter and went on to become a Captain, Assistant Chief and then the Fire Chief of Kennewick in 1978, retiring in 1985. He helped to bring many positive changes to the fire department. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings and his son. He is survived by his wife, daughter, three siblings, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Gene was an amazing man. He was loving, kind, and generous. He will be missed by all. He lived a life of service to his family, his country and his community. A celebration of his life will be held at Word of Faith Center, 1350 South Rainier Street, Kennewick, WA on April 29th at 1 PM.
