Obituary

Don J. Fenton, age 71, passed away September 14, 2012. He was born August 10, 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee. His family moved to Jasper, Alabama where he grew up and graduated from Walker County High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1959 and retired in 1985 as a Lieutenant Commander. Don took great pride in serving his country and always loved a challenge. He served on four ships and at six commands during his 25 years, two overseas duties, which his family accompanied him to Sicily and Japan. Upon retiring he worked a short time for Honeywell in Minnesota and Vitro Corp in Silverdale, Washington. Moved to the Tri-Cities in 1994 and had a delivery service before retiring. He loved his family and would do anything for them. Don also loved building things; anything he made would stand the test of time. We will miss him dearly and take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering. Don is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia; son Russ; daughter Brenda and husband Tom Edwards; grandchildren: Danielle, John, Heather, Chelsea and twins Sophia and Tommy, born September 15, 2012; sisters: Virginia Patrick and family of Jasper, Alabama and Linda Myers and family of Valrico, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Esther Fenton, sister Barbara Williams and infant son John. Special thanks to Life Care Center of Richland, and their caring staff, for all they did for Don. Memorial services will be Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., at Kennewick Baptist Church, 2425 W. Albany, Kennewick.
