Dixie Abernathy of Kennewick, WA, stepped into heaven at the age of 74 on Friday, September 8, 2017. She was born in Yakima, WA, to Jess Ellis and Helen Ellis. In 1961, she married Robert R. Main of Quincy, WA and they had three children. In 1986, she married Lewis Abernathy and they called Kennewick, WA home for over 30 years. She is survived by her best friend and sister, Judy Winn and brother, George "Duke" Ellis, her sons: Robert B. Main, (BeaJae) of Wenatchee, WA, Ricky R. Main of Kennewick, WA and her daughter Judie Main of Renton, WA. Her step-children, Jim, Ty, and Rob, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nephews and nieces She was preceded in death by her husband, Lew Abernathy. Dixie was a remarkable woman who received her RN degree from CBC at the age of 40. She then went on to have a 20-year career in health care management at Kennewick Life Care and Hillcrest Convalescent Home. She was very involved in boating at Clover Island Yacht Club. She had a passion for traveling, photography and her Shih Tzu's. Celebration of Life will be this Thursday, September 14, 2017, 2pm at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, located at 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick, WA.
