Dennis LeRoy Catt, 86, of Richland, WA, passed away peacefully on August 28,2026 at Kadlec Hospital in Richland after a lengthy battle with COPD.

He was born in Glasgow, Montana on July 30,1940 and lived most of his childhood in and around the small city of Fort Peck, Montana.

Dennis served in the U.S. Marines from 1957 to 1963 as an LCPL in the 11th Marine Division, the 9th Motor Transport and overseas duty with the 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa and Laos. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1998 as a Tank Platoon Sergeant, Readiness NCO, NBC NCO and Maintenance Supervisor. He also served in Korea with the 81st Infantry.

He worked at Battelle Northwest from 1967 to 1980, working in experimental sciences.

Dennis spent a large portion of his life in Richland, WA where he met and married his first wife, Sherry Diane Bennett. They were married in Lewiston, ID on July 16, 1959. They raised three children, Kirk Devere, Theresa (Tess) Lea, and Darren LeRoy.

In October of 1989 he met his second wife, Cecelia (C.J.) Long, and was soon married on May 12, 1990. They started their life together in Pasco, WA when soon after in 1991 were transferred to Yakima, WA. They soon moved to Selah, WA where they enjoyed the country life. Due to Dennis’s health, they moved to Yakima until 2018, where he moved to Richland. WA to be near family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Cecelia (C.J.) Catt, his three children, Kirk (Rachel) Catt, Tess (Tony) Brown and Darren (Chris) Catt. Two stepsons, Robert J. Long and Jon A. Long. Dennis also has 8 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Step grandchildren.

Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Catt Patty, his father, Floyd Catt, his Stepfather, Bill Patty and his two brothers, Gary Catt and Donald Catt.

Services for Dennis will be held on Tuesday, September 8th at 11:00 Am at the Richland Church of Christ with a graveside service to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick, WA.

Special thanks to Rhonda Vocht of Nuclear Care Partners who served Dennis as his in-home caregiver for the past 6 years. She was a light to his day and a constant advocate on his behalf, as well as all the other caretakers.
