Dennis Leon
Barrow
May 2, 1941 — Apr 9, 2026
Dennis Leon Barrow, age 84, was born on May 2nd, 1941, in Ogden Utah to Cecil White Barrow and Clara Marie Erskine. He died peacefully April 9th, 2026, in Richland Washington.
Dennis was the second oldest of six children. Since he was young, Dennis loved being around horses, camping and being in the mountains. Dennis lived on a farm in Utah where his parents had a dairy. In 1954 the family moved to Washington to homestead a farm in Eltopia. He attended middle school in Eltopia and graduated from Pasco High in 1959 where he played football and wrestled. After graduating, Dennis attended Columbia Basin College. In 1961 Dennis moved back to Utah where he met Judy Henstra when she knocked on his door asking for a ride to church. They were married on August 3rd, 1961, and were blessed with eight beautiful children during their marriage. After getting married, Dennis worked as a surveyor for the government for two and half years. Dennis and Judy then decided to move to Washington where Dennis worked in farming, raising cattle, and fulfilling his dream of being a cowboy and farmer in Eltopia and Basin City. On December 21, 1965, Dennis and Judy were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah temple.
After Judy passed away in 1988 Dennis remarried in 1991 to Virginia Lee Mathis. Together they farmed and developed additional fruit orchards. He also worked for the Irrigation District for 15 years.
Dennis was a devoted family man with a playful spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. He adored his grandchildren and loved every moment spent playing with them. He was also a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings throughout his life.
Dennis is survived by his wife Virginia Barrow, his siblings Marlene Perry (Robert) and Kevin (Shawna), his eight children: Denise Lathim (Mark), Leslie Gallinger (Bill), Lee (Vicky), Darren (Bobbi Jo), Wade (Amy), Stephanie Brook (Brandon), Jason (Tara) and Amy Gray, his 2 stepchildren: Steve Mathis (Karen) and Mark Mathis (Mary), 33 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Karen, Anne and Sherrilyn, his wife Judy Barrow, his stepson Coy Mathis, his grandchildren Mary Mathis, Kayla Mathis, and Gunner Mathis, and his great grandchildren Summer Lilly Chamberlain and Tatum Rae Knight.
