Delpha Love (née Fortner)

January 7, 1935 – May 7, 2025

Delpha Love, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 90.

Born on January 7, 1935, in Pendall, Arkansas, Delpha was the daughter of Everett and Gertrude Fortner. She graduated from high school and completed some college before proudly following in her father's footsteps to become a barber. Delpha, alongside her husband Phillip Love, owned and operated their own barber shop in Kennewick, where she worked for more than 40 years. Known for her warm personality and steady hands, she built lasting relationships with her clients and was a cherished member of the community.

Delpha had a zest for life. She loved bowling, dancing, traveling, and never missed a daily crossword puzzle. A dedicated fan of Westerns and country music, her favorite singer was Jim Reeves. She loved being around people, had a natural gift for socializing, and her sense of style was unmistakable—her hair and nails were always done, and she was rarely seen without her signature jewelry.

Family was the cornerstone of Delpha's life. She was predeceased by her parents, Everett and Gertrude; her brothers Ralph and L.C. Fortner; and her sisters Modene Dugger, Charlotte Rouse, Gerene Hamilton, and Eileen Fortner. She is survived by her loving brothers Harlan and Cecil Fortner, and her sister Janie Boylan. She leaves behind her children Mark, Kim, and Gary; seven grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

A graveside service will be held on May 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Benton City, with a gathering and lunch to follow at the Benton City Community Center. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Delpha's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association to support research into Alzheimer's and dementia.

Delpha's warmth, charm, and deep love for her family and friends will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
