Dee June Hanson passed away, quietly in her sleep Sunday October 29, 2006, after a courageous fight with kidney failure and cancer. Jesus came and took her home. Dee was born on July 3, 1950 in Portland OR and grew up on her family?s ancestral farm, the Robinson homestead land grant. Dee attended McKay Elementary and graduated from Beaverton High School in 1968, both in Beaverton OR. She married Ronald Dean Hanson on Aug 25, 1979 and lived in Kennewick for 28 years. She has worked as a cook for Kennewick School District for 23 years and as head kitchen manager for the last 12-1/2 years at Kennewick High School. Dee was an active member of 4-H throughout her school years and after moving to Kennewick became involved with 4-H again first as a club leader and then as a resource leader and 4-H cooking Judge. She was active in the Benton Franklin County Fair for 25 years. She was a 4-H department superintendent and then became the 4-H, FFA, and Open Class Goat Superintendent. If you visited the Goat and Sheep Barn you probably met her. She was also involved with Theta Rho Girls Club, first as a member during her childhood and later as an Advisor to Pasco Theta Rho Girls Club # 14. She was a member of Golden Rule Rebekah Lodge # 242 of Pasco, and Kennewick Odd Fellows Lodge # 222. She was serving as the Noble Grand of her Odd Fellows Lodge, and was the current President of the Rebekah Assembly of Washington; she had previously served as the Rebekah Assembly President in 1997. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Zeta Robinson, Tigard OR. Survivors include her husband Ron, step-children Regina Paxton, of Burbank, WA Shelly Hanson of Pullman, WA Tammy Hanson, of Denver Colorado, Lacey Mallory, of Denver Colorado and Mitchell Hanson of Fort Wainwright Army base in Fairbanks; her father, Chester Lane Robinson of Beaverton OR, brother and sister-in-law Lynn and Georgia Robinson of Beaverton OR and their 4 children living in southern California; sisters Kay M. Bell of Portland, OR and Thea N. Wood of Tualatin, OR. She is also survived by 4 aunts, an uncle and numerous cousins and grandchildren.
