David William Ingersoll and Barbara Lee Ingersoll

David William Ingersoll was born to William and Pearl Ingersoll on July 20, 1934, in Elgin, Nebraska.  He graduated to heaven on July 20, 2023, at the age of 89.

Barbara Lee Ingersoll was born to Edgar and Francis Crumpacker on September 5, 1935, in Walla Walla, Washington.  She graduated to heaven on June 28, 2023, at the age of 87.

David and Barbara met when they were teenagers. They fell in love and were married in the summer, September 14, 1952; David was 18 and Barbara was 17. A son, David, was born the following year, another son, Tony, the next year, and then the next year, twin daughters, Karlene and Charlene. One more son, Monte, was born two and one half years later.

They made their home in Pasco, then Kennewick, moved to Texas, then California, then Oregon, eventually settling back in Kennewick.

As a child, David's family moved often as his father and mother were both ordained ministers and pastored churches in Nebraska, Wyoming, Oregon, and Washington. The Ingersoll family moved to Benton City, Washington in 1946 to pastor the Pilgrim Holiness church there.

David's employment included working for Sanders House Moving, and Pacific Inland Navigation, where David accepted a short term assignment to Vietnam in 1966 (18 months) to offload ships carrying supplies for the US military. David And Barbara also owned their own business, The Galley (floating restaurant w/fuel pumps) on the Pasco side of the Columbia River (the Columbia Marina), 1964-1966. David became an expert craftsman, painting both residential and commercial buildings (trained by his father-in-law, Edgar Crumpacker). He worked for William R. Graham Painting. He was always in demand for his expertise and excellent craftsmanship. In the latter part of his career, David worked for Macy's Department store in the Bay Area in California.

Barbara's early years were spent in Walla Walla, Washington and Hermiston, Oregon. Her family moved to Kennewick, Washington sometime around 1950. She attended Kennewick High School. Barbara was a strong woman, not afraid to do whatever it took to provide for and support her family of five children. She had to hold the family together while David worked stints in Vietnam and Alaska while working through it all. Barbara worked as a cashier for Mayfair Market, Gene and Jules, Thrifty Drug Store, and Mark 'n Pak. She always had the longest lines as she was a favorite among the customers. At the end of her working career, she sold fine jewelry for Sears and Macy's stores.

Early in their marriage, David and Barbara made a decision to give their lives to follow Jesus. They were early members of Tri-City Community Church in Kennewick where they poured their lives into serving God with their children. They raised their family by Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Barbara taught Sunday School and David led worship. David and Barbara led and taught both Jr. High, then High School students. Later, they developed a wonderful ministry for Senior Adults. David and Barbara were amongst a group of families that helped to create a church ministry that impacted thousands of lives.

As a young man, David learned to play guitar and was found singing and playing for just about everyone. Barbara remarked that often times she would call him to come home for dinner as he was entertaining folks with cover songs from Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Marty Robbins and the great hymns of old.

Their family, including David and all five kids, became the Singing Ingersoll Family where they shared music all over the Tri-Cities and the Pacific Northwest. Barbara was the manager, booking agent and costume designer/seamstress for their singing group. In 1971, they took their kids to record in a studio in Nashville, Tennessee, and in 1972, they performed at Explo '72, an historic discipleship training event in Dallas, Texas. One of their most memorable events was to perform for the annual Harvest Ball each year where they built life-long friendships with members of the disabled community.

Their family enjoyed boating, water skiing, fishing, camping in the mountains, sledding, Christmas breakfast at Pielsticks, and anything that included their church family, friends and relatives.

Later, David became an elder in the church where they served in Sunnyvale, California. Even in their retirement, Dave and Barbara served with their son, Monte, at Coast Hills Community Church in McMinnville, Oregon, and helped to launch The Living Room Community Church, in Kennewick.

David and Barbara loved to serve people without hesitation. They gave away meals, clothes, cars and even money they didn't have to help people, knowing God would provide. More than once, when someone they knew was dying and had no family to support them, they moved them into their home to care for them until they passed. "Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your master."

David is survived by his brother; Frank Ingersoll, sons; Tony (Linda) Ingersoll, Monte (Susan) Ingersoll, daughters; Karlene Ingersoll, Charlene (Steve) Goodnight, 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife; Barbara Ingersoll, father and mother; William and Pearl Ingersoll, brothers; Marion Ingersoll, Roy Ingersoll, sisters; Dorothy Swan, Roberta Carmen, Joretta Swan, Naomi McGlasson, Eunice Ingersoll, son; David Ingersoll II.

Barbara is survived by her sister; Joyce (Dick) Furniss, sons; Tony (Linda) Ingersoll, Monte (Susan) Ingersoll, daughters; Karlene Ingersoll, Charlene (Steve) Goodnight, 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her father and mother; Edgar and Francis Crumpacker, brother; Loren Crumpacker, son; David Ingersoll II.

Dave & Barbara's joint Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm, The Living Room Community Church, 1409 S. Garfield, Kennewick, WA 99337 with a reception following. The graveside service will be at 11:30 am at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Union & 10th Ave Kennewick.
