David Lee Brenchley was a man of faith who held out hope and vision for many that he knew. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young person and was baptized as a teenager. He was born on March 13, 1940 in Spokane, Washington to Pearl Edna Buzzelle and Theodore Henry Brenchley. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Susan Mwari Brenchley, Kennewick, and their children Kenneth, Luke, Patience, and Mark as well as his first wife Marilyn Makandi Brenchley, and their children Bryan Brenchley (Lilli), Macedonia; Kristin Lewis (Neal), Bellingham; Angela Welch (Tim), W. Richland; Philip Brenchley (Cary), Mt. Lake Terrace; John Brenchley, Kennewick; and 9 grandchildren. He was a graduate of the University of Washington, Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering, Oregon State University, Ph.D., Mechanical Engineering, Whitworth University, M.A. Human Development, and Fuller Theological Seminary, M.Div. His engineering and teaching jobs included Standard Oil Company, Richmond, CA; Caterpillar Tractor Company, Peoria, IL.; Purdue University, Lafayette, IN.; NILU, Oslo, Norway; Pacific Northwest National Laboratories, Richland; Columbia Basin College, Pasco; and WSU, Richland. In ministry he served at CUP Church, Richland; Shalom UCC, Richland; Methodist Training Institute and Kenya Methodist University, Meru, Kenya. "Dr. B", as he was known by many, invested in people through teaching and collaboration, encouraging students and co-workers to have big dreams and to keep working on those dreams. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16th, 1:00 p.m. at South Hills Church, 3700 W. 27th Ave., Kennewick, followed by graveside service at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Kennewick.
