His favorite part of the year was preparing for deer season at Lion's Ferry with his son Darin, grandchildren Kyle and Drew, and good friends. He enjoyed elk and bird hunting, fishing on the Columbia River, cooking (making his famous clam chowder), and growing his garden from seed each year.
He met his wife Sheila (Kirsch) in Clarkston, WA. They were married 52 years and resided in Finley, WA. Darrell had three children: Darla, Darin, and Dawn.
He leaves behind many that loved him dearly including his wife, Sheila; his children Darin (Debbie), Dawn; grandchildren Tracie, Kyle, Drew; four great-grandchildren; brother Howard; sister-in-law Joan, and many nieces and nephews.
