Beloved son and friend to many, Dana Victor Smith was born October 31st, 1961 in Aurora, Illinois to Della "Marie" (Miller) and John Leonard Smith. He passed away unexpectedly in Richland, WA on September 16th, 2017 at the age of 55. In his early school years he lived in Illinois, Tennessee, California and Nevada. In 1972, his step-father, Ralph Hursey brought he and Marie to Pasco, where Ralph, a mortician, accepted a job at the Greenlee Funeral Home. Ralph unfortunately passed away in 1973, but Dana and Marie remained in Pasco for the next 14 years. Dana attended Emerson Elementary, Steven's Junior High and Pasco High School where he graduated in 1979. After high school he took classes at CBC, worked at Iowa Beef as a meat cutter and the Tri-City Herald in the post press, inserting ads and flyers before the papers went out. In 1989, Dana and Marie moved to Tennessee to be close to family. They lived there for 14 years. In 2003, they returned to Pasco and that is when Dana first became a realtor. He first worked for Century 21 and then in recent years he co-founded his own realty company, Tri-Cities Realty Group. Dana helped many people over the years find a home or sell a home. He was such a friendly, helpful guy, it was a perfect fit for him. The motto on the back of his card said "Home is where the story begins". Dana loved sports, especially boxing. He was an expert on past and present boxing. In 1995, he was able to attend a big fight, Vinny Pazienza vs. Roy Jones at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, then in 2002 Larry Holmes vs Eric Butterbean. He would share his knowledge with all the younger guys at the pay-per-view gatherings which he so enjoyed. Dana was often found getting together, visiting with former Bulldogs and if he had any spare time he was on Facebook keeping in touch with all his friends. He will truly be missed. His mother recalls that at age 9 or 10 years while in California, they attended a Billy Graham Crusade. It was there that Dana accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He was later baptized. He is survived by his mother Marie Hursey of Pasco, a half-sister, Teresa Langerall in Tennessee, 2 half-brothers, Rick and Jonathan Smith in Illinois. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and many cousins in Illinois, Tennessee, Ohio, Virginia and Florida. He was proceeded in death by his father, John Smith and step-father Ralph Hursey. Viewing will be Thursday, September 21 from 5 pm-8 pm at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home. Services will be held at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home 1608 W. Court St. Pasco, WA on Friday September 22nd, at 10 am. Graveside service will follow at City View Cemetery, Pasco. A reception will follow after the graveside service at the Pasco Grange located at Road 64 and Court St. A special thank-you to his business partners and co-workers at Tri-Cities Realty Group for the kindness and support they have shown. They truly were like family to him.
