Dan Lee Doescher, 71, of Kennewick, passed peacefully Monday morning, Memorial Day, May 27, 2024, surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Canadian wilderness, with his loving partner, Valerie, by his side.

Born October 21, 1952, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Dono and Donna Doescher.

In June 1970, Dan graduated from Kennewick High School and joined the US Navy. After four years of service, with an honorable discharge, he got off the boat and began the San Diego chapter of his life. In 1981, while pursuing an education at Cuyamaca College, he met Becky Freund, with whom he grew the Dan Clan: his first two children born in San Diego, before a

move to Tri-Cities in 1988, where his third came along a couple years later.

For 35 years, he worked for the family business, All Doors Inc, and was known as Dan the Door Man, installing and repairing doors for businesses and families around the Tri-Cities.

Everywhere he went, he made sure to conversate and get to know the people around him. He made life-long friends through his business relationships as well as disc golf, cribbage, square dancing, bowling and many other interests and hobbies, including zymurgy, where he met his love and adventure partner Valerie Beaver.

Dan was a proud father and grandfather. He was an ardent fan of the San Diego Padres and Chargers, and had a grand love of ketchup and trains.

Since retiring in spring of 2022, Dan and Val embarked on long-anticipated journeys across the North American continent, "traveled everywhere between Mexico and Canada," as he liked to say, and his last week was traveling through British Columbia on the way to Alaska for the summer.

Dan is survived by his partner Valerie Beaver, his children Michelle, Michael (Sara), and Marie (Nathan), his step-son Jeremy Beaver, his sister Dee Chapman (Jordan), and his brothers Derwin (Debbie), and Dondi (Jana), several nieces and nephews and grandchildren, and an ever-expanding extended family.

He was preceded in death by his sister Doreen Soushek, his parents Donna and Dono Doescher, his sister-in-law Dawn Doescher, his brother-in-law Les Chapman, his cousin Cheryl Swayze, and his uncles Warren Selvar and Richard Barnes.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 14th & Union Street, in Kennewick, followed by a celebration of life with a spread to include some of Dan's favorite foods and beverages.
