Obituary

Dale Nichols passed away peacefully of heart failure in Kadlec Hospital, Richland, WA at the age of 81 on October 15, 2023 with his wife Kathy at his side. Dale was born in Junction City, Oregon on April 20, 1942, the third son of Robert and Lola Belle (Kelley) Nichols. It was often said that they wanted a girl and hit the jackpot with five more children, all girls.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Jones) Kaser-Nichols, sister Joanne Bennett, his three children, Greg, David and Tammy and two step-children, John and Laura. Many, many other family members reside in the Pacific Northwest, Canada and as far away as the East Coast.

Starting at a young age in the timber industry, Dale worked construction, operating a great variety of heavy equipment machines. He was a quick learner and had ambitions to eventually own his own company. Dale studied hard to get various construction-related licenses, sometimes getting scores higher than his teachers. Dale enjoyed reading, learning and studying

self-improvement books. Realizing his dreams of owning his own business, several have been formed over the years, namely Sundance Construction, K Kaser Company, Inc, and D Nichols, Inc.

Dale enjoyed boating in his houseboat, the Prime Time and snow skiing trips with the Desert Ski Club. Dale loved flying--he owned his own airplane which he used in his first construction business. The Oregon Coast was his favorite destination. He loved glamping on the weekends in a motorhome. Dale sang and played guitar, collected antiques and old cars. Gardening home grown tomatoes was a favorite summer chore.  Many friends enjoyed his warmth, charm, and easy laugh. He was a good listener who was thoroughly delighted by all who dropped by the business to visit, play guitar, and to share tall tales. Dale will be sorely missed by his friends and loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 28th at CG Public House (Country Gentleman) at 5 pm, followed by refreshments. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Union Gospel Mission in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to give special thanks to the ER staff at Kadlec Hospital.
