Coy S. Hooper of Kennewick passed away on March 2, 2026 at the age of 68. Coy was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1957. In 1967, Coy moved to the Tri Cities with his mother Carman and siblings Denise and Dean. He attended Kamiakin High School and played first base for the 1975 state championship winning Braves baseball team.

Coy married Bernadette LaCost in 1982. After the birth of their daughter, Kathryn, Coy went back to school. He attended Columbia Basin College before earning his Bachelors of Pharmacy from the University of Washington in Seattle.

Coy and Bernadette returned to Kennewick shortly before welcoming twin daughters, Alexis and Elizabeth. Coy cultivated his appreciation for education in his daughters, all three of whom followed in his footsteps, graduating from Kamiakin and earning their advanced degrees from the University of Washington. Kathryn currently resides in Seattle where she conducts research in immunotherapy and Alexis and Elizabeth are software engineers based in New York City.

Coy served his community as a pharmacist at Cork's Pharmacy for over 20 years. He retired after several years at Walgreens pharmacies in Pasco and Kennewick and the Mattawa Community Clinic. He also spent many years volunteering for Mid-Columbia Ballet while his daughters were performing with the company.

Coy loved the Mariners and the Seahawks, evening drives, good food, and barbecuing. He also greatly enjoyed opera, theater, and traveling. He shared these interests with his family, starting with family vacations to Disneyland, San Francisco, and the Oregon Coast, as well as countless road trips around the Pacific Northwest. In recent years, he loved to visit his daughters in Seattle and New York, and he and Bernadette made annual trips to London to enjoy the city.

Coy will be remembered for his work ethic and sense of humor, and above all for his love for his family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
