Obituary

Connie (76) passed away peacefully at home in Kennewick, WA, on September 26th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family; following a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.

Born in Norfolk, Nebraska, she was the first of six children of Wayne and Arlene Werner. Connie graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1966 and attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. June 19th, 1982, she married Sanford 'Sandy' Wormington in Columbus, NE.

She spent 20 years traveling the USA as an instructor for Beauty for All Season. She then spent over 32 years as a florist and business owner of Just Roses Flowers & More and Columbia Wholesales.

Connie was full of life and a great athlete. Her love of softball started in high school and she continued to play competitive softball for 6 decades. She played in tournaments across the United States until 75 years old and is a multi-champion World Senior softball gold medalist. Connie was a GO BIG RED Nebraska Cornhusker fan for all sports, even followed their bowling team. She also enjoyed playing pickleball, exercising, boating, spending time with family, friends and had a passion for decorating.

Connie enjoyed traveling with her husband, family and friends. Some of her traveling highlights were going to Norway, Brazil, Mexico, Isreal, St. Thomas and taking ocean cruises.

Connie and Sandy raised two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Justin Wormington. They were 3 and 6 when they came to them; Connie poured her love and support into raising her grandkids. She then became involved in leading a support group for grandparents raising relatives.

She was a follower of Christ and loved the Lord. She was very involved in her bible study group and enjoyed weekly bible study sessions with friends. Connie had a big heart with a lively personality. She was very outgoing, fun, caring and determined. She brightened up any room that she was in. Connie was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was so loved and will be deeply missed!!

Connie and Sandy celebrated 42 years of marriage in June.

Sisters are Brenda (Mike) Christensen, Jan (Lenny) Smutny, Chris Lewis and Bridget Hatten; Sister-in-law, Shelley (Darrell) Hoober; and lots of nieces and nephews.

Her children are Christopher (Libby) Campbell, Sean (Angela) Carr, Candace (Rene) Lopez and stepchildren Lisa (Brian) Koons and Scott Wormington.

Connie's grandchildren are Caleb, Cyler and Cruz Campbell, Cody and Kyle Carr, Justin Wormington, Kaitlyn (Blake) Bishop, Naythan and Dylan Lopez, Madyson and Caden Koons.

Her great grandchildren are Viola Wormington (10) and the impending arrival (October) of Braxton Bishop.

Preceding Connie in death are her parents and brother John Werner.

Celebration of Life and visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at 2:00pm, located at Mueller's Funeral Home on Union in Kennewick.
