Obituary

Clayton "Dick" Schmidt passed into the loving arms of Jesus on July 10, 2015. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Beverly, his daughters, Teddi Gunderson (Dan), Traci Zubka, grandchildren, Shantelle (Matt), Zane, Devon and Chloe, great-grandchildren, Avalon and Ashlyn. Clayton was born in Buffalo, NY, in 1929 and resided there until 1951 when he joined the Air Force. He married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Corbett, and they soon were living in England while Dick served in the Korean War. They were able to visit a few different European countries and create some wonderful lifetime memories. Dick and Bev landed in Kennewick to work at Phillips Petroleum, and due to mom's tight money management, after 27 years at Phillips, he was able to retire at age 55. They began a snowbird lifestyle with their 5th wheel trailer and spent six months a year traveling for the next 25 years. Dad was our "Energizer Bunny" who loved golfing, hunting, fishing, officiating 3 sports, motorcycling, hiking, boating, playing softball, basketball, biking, vegetable gardening, and wonderful camping trips with his kids and grandkids. He will be missed greatly, but we treasure our precious memories with him. His family was his number one priority, and we always knew how much he loved all of us. Special thanks to friends Paul and Marilyn Klei, Harold Whitworth, Bill Cox, Earl Sutton, and Pastor Oroville Swanson for their loving visits to Dad and Mom during his illness. Services will be where Mom and Dad have faithfully attended over 50 years--Kennewick Nazarene Church on Union St, Saturday July 25th at 11:00 AM. Donations can be made to Kennewick Church of the Nazarene.
