Clara Heinemeyer was born in Hazen, North Dakota on September 14, 1922 to Henry and Martha Loewen. She died February 5, 2009. Clara spent her childhood on a farm in Hazen, North Dakota until the age of 18 when she moved to Bremerton, Washington and went to work in the Bremerton Naval Yard. In 1944 she returned to Hazen, North Dakota where she married her husband of 64 years, Richard Heinemeyer. After they married, they moved to Hanford where they spent the next 7 months before moving into Richland. They lived in Richland for 6 years and then moved to a farm in South Kennewick where she helped her husband with farm work. Along with the farm work she took on the care of 5 of her grandchildren while their parents worked. In 1980 she went to work at Kadlec hospital where she retired in 1988. She is survived by her husband, Richard; sons, Daniel Heinemeyer and wife Christy, Rick Heinemeyer and wife Darlene; daughter, Gloria Boedeker and husband Ron; plus her seven grandchildren, Manny, Kathryn, Jeniene, Allen, Aaron, Katrina, Christopher; and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 10, 2009, 2:00pm, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park at 10th & Union Street in Kennewick.
