Christopher Gene Lockard, 54, of Kennewick, Washington, joined his son in Heaven July 3rd, 2013. Chris was born to William and Beverly Lockard in Spokane, Washington on September 27th, 1958. He grew up in Kennewick with his brothers Kenny and Kurt and sister Kimberly. Chris graduated from Kennewick High School in 1977 where he then joined the U.S. Marines reserves. After returning from boot camp, Chris began working at Ernst Hardware where he met his future wife Debbie. They married in November of 1980. After years of traveling, flipping houses and enjoying time as newlyweds, Chris and Debbie welcomed their son Benjamin in 1987 and daughter, Hannah, in 1990. Chris was currently working for the Hanford Fire Department where he had been for 25 years. He had many co-workers who were like family to Chris. They have been a great support to Chris' family at this time. Chris was always a provider and a caregiver not only for his family, but for anyone who needed a helping hand. He enjoyed taking his children camping, fishing and teaching them how to fix things and remodel houses. Throughout the years Chris and his family traveled to many fun places including countless cruises, which were their favorite. He had nicknames for all his children's friends and even became a father-like figure to many of them. He was known for his witty comments and never failed to put a smile on others' faces. He lived selflessly and was always serving others. Whether it was helping a neighbor fix their car or helping his children through hard times, Chris never hesitated to lend a hand or a famous hug. Even after the loss of his son, Chris held the family together. He was Debbie and Hannah's rock. He loved his family more than words could ever say and would do anything for them. His death is like losing a friend, a companion, a biggest fan and most of all the greatest father, husband, son, and brother anyone could ask for. It brings comfort to our minds and hearts that he is with Ben in Heaven hunting, fishing and laughing with Jesus. Chris is survived by his wife Debbie and daughter Hannah Seely (Brian), mother Beverly Lockard, brothers Ken Lockard (Cheryl) and Kurt Lockard (Camilla), sister Kimberly Lockard (Larry), mother-in-law Wanda Wolfe and brother-in-law John Wolfe, nieces and nephews Devin, Kelsey, Spencer, Maddie, Michelle (Chauncy), Lynzie, Bryon, Travis, Christopher and Brittney. He was preceded in death by his father William and son Benjamin. We want to thank all the family and friends that have reached out to us at this time.
